We would be happy to test your card on-site to see if we can fix it. Please visit our office during business hours to have your ID card tested. If it is determined that you need a replacement, a new card will be printed for you. Your student account will be assessed the $25 replacement ID card cost.
At UC San Diego, we aim to provide students with high-quality Campus ID cards that are durable and functional. However, over time, wear and tear from regular use or accidental damage may cause the card to malfunction. Please review our policy for replacing damaged ID cards:
Normal Use: Campus ID cards are designed to withstand typical use. However, like any item, they can show signs of wear over time—such as fading, bending, or scratches—especially if the card is exposed to extreme conditions (e.g., bending, being kept unprotected, or exposed to heat/water).
Accidental Damage: If your card becomes damaged due to an accident (e.g., a cracked or broken card), this is considered "accidental damage" and will not be covered under the ID card replacement policy.
If your ID card is turned into our office, we will contact you via your UCSD email.
If you have lost your ID card and need a replacement one, please fill out an ID Card Request Form. We also recommend that you log into your Transact eAccounts Portal to suspend your ID card, until you are able to obtain your new ID card.
